Hello, my name is Francine, founder of Beauty for Africa. This journey began with my mother, who first introduced me to the incredible artistry and cultural richness of our homeland.

I am originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country blessed with extraordinary beauty, abundant nature, and remarkable wildlife. Growing up there, my mother discovered talented local artisans who were able to capture the spirit and elegance of our culture through their craft. Today, I am honored to share their work with you.

Through hand-carved wooden art made from ebony and wenge wood, beautiful malachite jewelry and sculptures, and traditional Kuba textiles, each piece reflects the creativity, heritage, and craftsmanship of Africa. My hope is that these creations allow you to experience a piece of Africa’s beauty and culture right in your own home.

I grew up in the southern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, near some of the world’s largest mining areas—cobalt in Kolwezi and copper in Lubumbashi. Living so close to these mines meant we were constantly surrounded by the dust and minerals from the earth. At one point, this exposure even affected my health; I developed pneumonia and had to miss my Grade 11 year until I recovered.

Those experiences shaped my appreciation for the land, its resources, and the resilience of the people who live there. Today, through Beauty for Africa, I want to celebrate the positive side of my homeland—its artistry, culture, and natural beauty—by connecting talented African artisans with people around the world.
